Legislature. Assembly, p. 1139

HERMAN L. KERN, Speaker; C. E. SHAFFER, Chief Clerk; W. S. IRVINE,
Sergeant-at-Arms.

The assembly consists of 100 members. They are chosen biennially and
receive $500 for their services during their term. The speaker is
chosen by the members and receives an additional $500 for his services
as speaker. The assembly of 1907 contains 76 republicans, 19
democrats, and 5 social democrats.

Outagamie County. (p. 1165) First District. The towns of Bovina,
Center, Dale, Ellington, Grand Chute and Greenville and the city of
Appleton. Population, 1900 - 23,102.

F. PETERSON, JR. (Dem.) was born in Winnebago county, this state, on
the 25th of March, 1860; is a dealer and shipper of live stock and is
also interested in the meat business; has been alderman four years in
Appleton, where he has resided since 1866; was president of city
council for two years; received his education in the schools of the
city of Appleton and at Lawrence University. He was elected to the
assembly in 1904, and re-elected in 1906, receiving 2,098 votes
against 1,718 votes for J. G. Rosebush (Rep.).
