The speaker is chosen by the members and receives an additional $500 for his services as speaker. The assembly of 1907 contains 76 republicans, 19 democrats, and 5 social democrats. Barron County. (p. 1141) One District. Population, 1900 - 23,677. GEORGE E. SCOTT (Rep.), of Prairie Farm, was born in Durand, Pepin county, Wis., July 3, 1860, where he received a common school education. He is a merchant and miller. In both 1904 and 1906 he was elected to the assembly without opposition.
