SHAFFER, Chief Clerk; W. S. IRVINE, Sergeant-at-Arms. The assembly consists of 100 members. They are chosen biennially and receive $500 for their services during their term. The speaker is chosen by the members and receives an additional $500 for his services as speaker. The assembly of 1907 contains 76 republicans, 19 democrats, and 5 social democrats. Milwaukee County. (p. 1163) Twelfth District. The Nineteenth and Twenty-second wards of the city of Milwaukee. Population, 1900 - 20,231. CARL D. THOMPSON (Soc. Dem.) was born in the village of Berlin, Mich., March 24, 1870; graduated from Gates College, Nebraska, 1895, Chicago Theological Seminary 1898, received Master's degree from Chicago University, 1900. Served in the Congregational ministry from 1891 to 1901. Was pastor of congregational church in Sharon, Wis. for three years. For the last three years has served as state organizer and lecturer for the social-democratic party of Wisconsin, and is a member of the national committee. Was elected to the assembly in 1906, receiving 1,648 votes against 1,545 votes for Aug. Dietrich (Rep.) and 1,010 votes for Adam Muth (Dem.).
