D. BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCHES. THE WISCONSIN LEGISLATURE. ASSEMBLY. L. H. BANCROFT, Speaker; O. E. SHAFFER, Chief Clerk; W. S. IRVINE, Sergeant-at-Arms. The assembly consists of 100 members. They are chosen biennally and receive $500 for their services during the term. The speaker is chosen by the members and receives an additional $500 for his services as speaker. The assembly of 1909 contains 76 republicans, 19 democrats, and 5 social democrats. GREEN COUNTY. One District. Population, 1900—22,719. A. B. COMSTOCK (Rep.) was born in the township of Albany, Green county, Wisconsin, April 5, 1857, on the farm which he now owns and where he has spent his entire life. He was educated in district school, deriving such benefit as was possible from attending school during the winter months when his services were not needed on the farm. He has always taken an active interest in local politics and at the age of thirty was elected member of the board of trustees of his township and five years later was elected chairman, which position he has filled ever since. As a member of the county board he has always been active and popular, being chairman of the county bridge committee for over seven consecutive years. Aside from his fanning Mr. Comstock has been for many years engaged in mercantile business at Albany, being interested in the hardware and agricultural implement business. He was elected to the assembly in 1908, receiving 2,110 votes against 1,770 for J. Theiler (Dan.), and 405 for Samuel Isely (Pro.) Additional Comments: Beck, J. D. .
