RICHLAND COUNTY

ELIAS R. CUSHMAN (Rep.) is a miller by trade and spent 25
years in lumbering and merchandising, but for some time has
been farming. He was born in Vernon county, August 14, 1860,
and was educated in the common schools of Vernon and Richland
counties. He served as president of the village of Viola, 1900
to 1903, and as a member of the Richland county board from
1909 to 1920. He was elected to the assembly in 1920, and was
re-elected in November, 1922, receiving 2,527 votes to 772 for
P. H. Slaney (Dem.).
