He received a common school education and for a number of years has been employed as a machinist. He was appointed by Governor Blaine as a member of the state board of conciliation two years ago. He was nominated for the state senate Feb. 3, 1923, over Ray J. Nye. Elected at a special election Feb. 17, 1923, to fill vacancy caused by the death of O. G.
