MEMBERS OF THE ASSEMBLY BROWN COUNTY First District. The city of Green Bay. JAMES T. OLIVER (Rep.) was born in Yorkshire, England, August 18, 1849, and received his education in that country. He came to America in 1868, working on railroads in Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania and New Jersey. He came to DePere in 1872 where he worked in the car shops, later going to Green Bay, then Grand Rapids and back again to Green Bay. For many years he served as a marine engineer on Green Bay and Lake. Michigan. Although taking an interest in political matters he never sought office of any kind until elected to the assembly in 1920 and was re-elected in 1922 without opposition after defeating a primary opponent by better than a two to one vote.
