Bergen, Berlin, Bern, Brighton, Cassel, Cleveland, Day, Eau Pleine, Emmet, Flieth, Frankfort, Green Valley, Halsey, Hamburg, Holton, Hull, Johnson, McMillan, Maine, Marathon, Mosinee, Rib Falls, Rietbrock, Spencer and Wein; that part of Abbotsford village in Marathon county and the villages of Athens, Edgar, Fenwood, McMillan, Marathon, Mosinee, Spencer, Stratford and that part of Unity village in Marathon county and that part of the City of Colby in Marahon county. J. W. SALTER (Rep.) was born Feb. 5, 1852, on a farm near West; Bend. He was educated in the common schools and the University of Wisconsin. In 1880 he organized the High School at Unity, Wisconsin,,' and was principal of that school for three years. For thirty years after that he was engaged in the mercantile business at Unity. He has always been very much interested in farming and in the production o^ a fine herd of pure-bred Red Polled cattle. He was appointed postmaster at Unity by President Arthur. He was for many years a member of the board of education there and served several times on the Marathon county board of supervisors. At the present time he is president of the Unity State Bank and is a member of the state board of education. He was elected member of assembly on the Republican Progressive ticket in the first district in Marathon county, Nov. 5, 1922, receiving 4,605 votes. --- Additional Comments: The Wisconsin Blue Book.
