MEMBERS OF THE ASSEMBLY

IRON AND VILAS COUNTIES

PAUL R. ALFONSI (Prog. Rep.) is the first person of
Corsican descent to serve in the Wisconsin Legislature. He
was born February 13, 1908, at Pence, Wisconsin, graduated
from Lincoln High School, Hurley, in 1924, and from
Whitewater State Teachers College three years later.
During the three college years he was a member of the
debate team at Whitewater. Since graduation from
Whitewater, Mr. Alfonsi has headed the commercial
department of the Washburn High School and at the same
time acted as forensic coach, having had several entries
in the state contests. His present term in the Assembly is
his first in public office.
