WALTER S. GOODLAND (Rep.) was born at Sharon, Wisconsin, on December 22, 1863. He is a son of the late Judge John Goodland, who was judge of the 10th Judicial Circuit for twenty-five years. He received a high school education at Appleton and attended Lawrence College but did not graduate. He was admitted to the bar in the Wisconsin Supreme Court in 1884, and practiced law for a few years before entering the newspaper business. He was mayor of Racine for four years from 1911 to 1915. He is now president of the Municipal Water Commission of Racine. Since 1887 he has been engaged in the newspaper business and was editor of the Racine Times-Call from 1900 to its merger with the Journal last year. He was elected to the Senate in 1926 and 1930.
