JOSEPH H. HARDGROVE (Dem.) was born at Fond du Lac on November 26, 1870. At the age of fifteen he learned the cooper trade, and until 1901 worked at his trade and taught district school. In 1903 he was graduated from Oshkosh State Teachers College and was made principal of the state graded school at Tigerton. Later he helped organize the Tigerton High School and was its first principal. Thereafter, he was the principal of Manawa High School for five years, and then entered the Medical School of Marquette University, where he took his M. D. in 1916, and since that year has practiced medicine at Eden. He has been president of the Fond du Lac County Rural Normal School Board since 1921.
