City of Dodgeville
Written: June 13, 1846
Recorded: May 23, 1850

Iowa County Deed Book, Vol. P, pg. 445: “Received, May 23, 1850 at 10 o’clock 
am. This indenture made the 13th day of June in the year of our Lord 1846, 
between John Jenkins and Narcissa M. Jenkins of the Territory of Wisconsin and 
County of Iowa of the first part, and LOUIS POQUETTE of the 2nd part.”

“Witnesseth that the said parties of the first part, in consideration of the 
sum of $20 in hand paid, …all of the following tract or parcel of land situate 
and being in the Territory of Wisconsin, a certain Lot numbered Five 1st in 
Block numbered 7 in the village of Dodgeville, bounded as follows: commencing 
at the SE corner of said Lot running north with Black’s line, 150 feet, thence 
west 55 feet more or less to Wilson’s line, thence south 150 feet, thence east 
55 feet more or less to the place of beginning, according to the plat of said 
village.”…in presence of Cyrus Connell and Robert Wilson.

Additional Comments:
Today, this block is located between the streets called Fountain and Walnut, 
and Iowa and Union. Iowa Street is the main boulevard through Dodgeville.
