This indenture made the 28th day of August in the year of our Lord, 1851 between Thomas Jackson and Irene Jackson, his wife, of the County of Iowa and state of Wisconsin, party of the 1st part, and WILLIAM MITCHELL, of said county of Iowa and state aforesaid, part of the 2nd part, for and in consideration of the sum of $200 lawful money of the U.S. to them in hand paid…hath granted, sold and conveyed…the following described pieces or parcels of land situate, lying and being in the County of Iowa and state of Wisconsin and known and designated as follows, viz: “Commencing 7 chains and 62 links North from one SW corner of the East half of the NE quarter of Section 30 in Township 5 of Range 3 East and running thence east 5 chains, thence North 5 chains thence west 5 chains, thence 75 chains to the place of beginning, containing 2 acres and a half, be the same more or less.” “Also commencing at the SW corner of the East half of the NE quarter of Section 30 in Township 5 of Range 3 East of the 4th principal meridian and running thence east 7 chains and 50 links. Thence North 15 degrees west 7 chains and 90 links, thence west 5 chains and 63 links, thence south 7 chains and 62 links to the place of beginning containing 5 acres save and excepting 1 acre and half deeded by the said Thomas Jackson and wife to Henry Kendall…” “Provided always that if the said Thomas Jackson…shall well and truly pay or cause to be paid unto the said party the sum of $200 and interest at the rate of 12 % per annum on or before the 28th day of August 1853…etc.” “I, James Rule, acknowledged as attorney in fact for the said WILLIAM MITCHELL, that I have received amount of principal and interest on this mortgage and desire that the same may be cancelled.
