Mr. Holmes was born at North Survey, a short distance from this city, on the 4th of October 1858. In 1881 he was united in marriage to Miss Emma Thrasher, daughter of the late George Thrasher. Four children were born unto them - George and Albert, now of Beloit, Will of this city, and Nellie who was beckoned "up higher" in 1916. Mr. Holmes was a resident of this community throughout his entire life and his willingness to help others won for him many friends. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, his three sons, three grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. James Thrasher, one brother, Samuel Holmes, both of this city, a half-sister, Ada Livingston, residing in Missouri, and one half-brother, Frank of Greenwood, Minnesota. Funeral Services were held at his home Tuesday afternoon, conducted by Rev. A. H. Schoenfeld. Interment in Graceland.
