Iowa County Democrat, Mineral Point, Friday, Jan. 10, 1879
“Miss Mary Poquette, aged about 25 years, died on Saturday last of diphtheria. 
Only a few weeks ago, a little sister of the deceased died of the same disease, 
and the family is now doubly bereaved. They have the sympathies of many 
sorrowing friends in their affliction.”
[Mary’s inscription on the family obelisk reads in part: ‘Mary C. Dau. of L. 
and J. C. Poquette, Died unreadable, 1879, unreadable.]
