In early infancy she was taken by her parents to Northern Michigan on account of the silver mining in that region in which they were interested. At the age of fourteen she returned to British Hollow and soon came to Platteville. In the year 1866, she was united in marriage with Joseph M. Rose on his return from the army. “To them were born eight children: John W.; Nora, who died at two years; Jesse; Cora, who died some years ago at Freeport, Ill, William A.; Myrtle; Charles and Walter. “She has lived practically her entire life in Platteville, except for short stays at Dubuque and Dodgeville. “She was a lifelong Christian woman whose daily life exemplified the teachings of her religion. She was especially interested in music and for many years sung in the choirs of the churches. Her friends speak of her as one of unusual unselfishness of life and thoughtfulness for others. Naturally she has not been much in public life in recent years but she never forgot her connection with the church and always looked eagerly for the Sunday School quarterlies of the Home Department which were regularly carried to her by Miss Amy Dietzman. “Her husband died in 1910, and she herself has been in poor health for the past six years, and seriously ill since last September. And now, ‘Like a shock of grain, cometh in its season, she has been called into the garner of our God.’ “Funeral services were conducted by Reverend E. C. Dixon at 2:00p.m. Monday and burial was at the Greenwood Cemetery.” File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/wi/iowa/obits/r/rose288gob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.genrecords.org/wifiles/ File size: 2.2 Kb
