JOHN WEDLAKE, 49 DEAD IN DODGEVILLE Former Local Resident Succumbs Tues. Night Following Stroke Last Saturday Mrs. John Wedlake, 49, former Evansville resident and sister of Mrs. Walter Spratler, 236 West Church Street, died at her home in Dodgeville at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday following a stroke of paralysis at 1 a.m. Saturday. Funeral services are being held today at 1:30 p.m. in the home and at 2 p.m. in the Methodist church, the Rev. G. R. Carver officiating. Burial will be in the Dodgeville cemetery. Those from here attending the services are Mr. and Mrs. Walter Spratler and son Walter Jr. and Mrs. Emma Johnson. Mrs. Wedlake, formerly Miss Mable Brown, was born in Mineral Point Feb. 14, 1881 where she grew to young womanhood and was graduated from high school. She was married to John Wedlake, Dodgeville, then employed in Evansville, at her home in Mineral Point June 29, 1904. Following their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Wedlake located in Evansville moving to Dodgeville in Jan. 1907. Mrs. Wedlake was a member of the Methodist church and its auxiliaries and was a member and past matron of the Eastern Star. She was also first vice president of the Woman's club in Dodgeville and an active member of several other organizations. Her husband is highway commissioner of Iowa county and a former mayor of Dodgeville. Mrs. Wedlake is survived by her husband; two sons, Russell, law student at the University of Wisconsin; and Jack, at home; one sister, Mrs. Walter Spratler, this city; and one brother, Harold Brown, Moline, Ill.
