June 24, 1936 - July 4, 2004 Brunker, Harold R. RIDGEWAY - Harold R. Brunker, age 68, of Ridgeway, died on Sunday, July 4, 2004, at Upland Hills Health in Dodgeville. He was born on June 24, 1936, in Dodgeville, a son of the late Jerome and Anastasia (Powers) Brunker. He attended Weier Rural School and graduated from Ridgeway Union Free High School in 1954. On Oct. 11, 1956, he married the former Shirley Sersch at St. Bridget's Catholic Church in Ridgeway. Harold worked at Cobb Canning Company and farmed most of his life on the family farms with his dad and brother, Donald, until 1984. He spent the remainder of his life on his own farm raising Herefords. He was a member of St. Bridget's Catholic Church and was an avid Packers fan. He enjoyed collecting International Toy Farm Tractors, fishing and his family. Harold is survived by his wife, Shirley; his children, Jacqueline (Merlin) Stanek of Columbus, David (Beth Edl) Brunker of McFarland, Susan (Terry) Paull of Ridgeway, Kathleen (Kevin) Zeier of Ridgeway, Connie (Stan) Skaife of Montfort, James (fiancee, Toni Volkey) Brunker of Monona, and Jill Brunker of Ridgeway; his grandchildren, Sara (Brian) Scott, Stacy Stanek, Kiley Brunker, Kimberly Paull, Brittany Zeier, Brandon Zeier, Cory Skaife, Craig Skaife, Chad Skaife, Adam Brunker and Nicole Brunker; his step-grandchildren, Larry and Eric Volkey; his great- granddaughter, Mariah Zeier; his brothers and sister, Donald (Joan) Brunker of Ridgeway, Carol (Gene) Gilbertson of Dodgeville, Tommy (Anne) Brunker of Mount Horeb, and Jerry Brunker of Dallas, Texas; his faithful companion, Baxter; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jerome, on Nov. 2, 1984, and Anastasia, on Jan. 26, 1970; and his nephew, Christopher Thomas, on Jan. 8, 1983. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 8, 2004, at ST. BRIDGET'S CATHOLIC CHURCH in Ridgeway. Father Donald Lange will officiate. Burial will be held in St. Bridget's Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Wednesday, July 7, 2004, at the GORGEN-MCGINLEY & AYERS FUNERAL HOME in Dodgeville, where a parish rosary service will be held at 8 p.m. Friends may also call from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass on Thursday at the church.
