RIDGEWAY - Leo C. Kaul, age 84, of Ridgeway, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Tuesday, May 24, 2005, at Bloomfield Manor in rural Dodgeville. Leo was born on Oct. 4, 1920, in Bear Valley, to the late Michael and Christina Kaul and raised on the family farm that is still there. Leo graduated from the Lone Rock High School and attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison for agriculture. After graduating, he was employed in Belleville, and he met his loving wife, Evelyn A. Keller. They wed on Nov. 8, 1947, and together they farmed in Ridgeway for 45 years and raised four children. Leo worked and loved their farm and also worked at the Arboretum in Madison for 20 years, retiring in 1982. Leo will be remembered for his love of life, love of the farm and his family. He will also be remembered for his kindness, his love of all children and animals, and his love for this earth. Leo was a strong influence on everyone's lives that he touched. He will be sadly missed by his family. Leo is survived by his wife, Evelyn; and their children, Bonnie (Charles) Sowl, Mary Jo Kaul, John Kaul and LeeAnn (Jay) Kaul- Bredeson. He has eight grandchildren; five great- grandchildren; a great-great-granddaughter; a sister, Mercedes (Robert) Barry; three brothers, Joseph (Esther), Francis and Albert; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother and sister-in-law, Leonard and Helen Kaul. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 27, 2005, at ST. BRIDGET'S CATHOLIC CHURCH in Ridgeway. Father Donald Lange will officiate. Burial will be held in St. Bridget's Cemetery. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 26, 2005, at the funeral home, where a parish rosary service will be held at 8 p.m. Friends may call from 10 a.m. on Friday at the church.
