Name: John KELLY Photo can be seen at: http://www.usgwarchives.net/wi/iowa/photos/tombstones/stbridgets/kelly9455gph.jpg Image file size: 48.7 Kb KELLY, John 01 Mar 1864- 17 Jan 1923 Son of James & Bridget (CALLAGHAN) KELLY OBITUARY-KELLY John Kelly, a highly respected citizen, died at the St. Joseph's hospital in the city of Dodgeville on Wednesday, Jan. 17, 1923, loved and highly respected by all that knew him. The funeral was conducted from the home of his brother Janes in the village of Ridgeway to St. Bridget's church. Services were held by Rev. Father Jas. Barry. Interment was in St. Bridgets cemetery. Mr. Kelly was born March 1, 1864, being 58 years, 10 months and 15 days old at the time of his death. Six of his nephews, namely, Frank O'Neal, Eugene and John Dougherty, Earl McSherry, Ted O'Neal and James F. Kelly, acted as pallbearers. John Kelly grew to manhood on his father's farm until the year 1885. He was then 21 years of age and had a strong desire to make a tour of the western countries, which he did, settling down at Butte City, Mont. He became greatly attached to the mining vicinities in that state out of which, by his hard work, he accumulated quite a fortune for himself. He made his home at Butte City, Mont., with the exception of a year or so which he spent visiting with his relatives and friends back here. Mr. Kelly was a man of noble qualities and had a host of friends wherever he was. He leaves to mourn his loss;two sisters, and one brother, Mrs. Eugene Dougherty and Mrs. Julia O'Neal, South Ridgeway, and James Kelly of the village of Ridgeway, besides a number of nieces and nephews. THose from out of town, who attended the funeral, were; M.K. Walsh, Blue Mounds; Owen Kelly, Mr. and Mrs. T. Burns and C. Schott and two daughters, Blanchardville; Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Kelly, John and Buill Kelly, Hollandale; Mrs. Mary Tobin, Dodgeville, and James F. and Helen A.J. Kelly, Chicago. Additional Comments: Photo submitted by Larry and Linda Kopet.
