He was born at home on Aug. 14, 1948, in Elkton, Ky., a son of the late Alvis and Leola (Scott) Knight. Paul served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was married to Betty Scheidegger on July 27, 1984, and together they decided to live in Wisconsin in order to be close to her family. He excelled in various sales positions before finally discovering his true calling as a car salesman, which he was very passionate about. He achieved his dream of having his own business as co-owner of King Street Auto in Dodgeville and was looking forward to teaching his sons the fine art of salesmanship. Paul always had a story or a joke to tell. He was proud of his "hillbilly roots," but always claimed the accent was from Boston. He was a devoted fan of his beloved home-state basketball team, the Kentucky Wildcats, rarely missing a game. Paul is survived by his wife, Betty; his children, Kim (Mike) Skipworth of Lewisburg, Ky., Kevin (Angie) of Russelville, Ky., and Rachel, Ben and Will, all of Dodgeville; his grandchildren, Michael and Brandy; his siblings, Doyle Knight, Virginia Strokes, Evelyn Jenkins and Lillie Wilkinson, all of Elkton, Ky.; as well as many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his older brother, Neal. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 13, 2004, at ST. BRIDGET'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, in Ridgeway. Father Donald Lange will officiate. Burial will be held in St. Bridget's Cemetery with military graveside rites accorded by the Iowa County Veterans.
