A newspaper piece found in the papers of Phronia McMahan: Since You're Gone It's been one whole year since you've gone away. And we miss you, son and brother dear, Day by day and in every way. Still we see your smiling eyes and hear your happy laughter; But you've traveled on to peaceful skies, To the heaven we all are after. Time has helped to heal the heartaches, But your place we cannot fill; And your voice reechoes in every space Clear and softly still. War has not made us forget you, Or the life you so nobly led; Only you're home now with God so true. And this was torn world you've exchanged For a starry crown instead. -By Staff Sgt. Ray F.
