She was born March 13, 1929, in Roy, N.M., the daughter of Juan Benito and Maria (Medina) Arguello. On July 21, 1953, Julia married LaVern Conner, and he preceded her in death on April 22, 2003. Julia was of a quiet nature. She always had a sweet smile for everyone. She loved books and spending time with her grandchildren. Julia is survived by seven children, David (Arleen) Conner of Blue River, Karen M. Conner of Madison, Mary Ann (Mike) Lawton of LaFarge, Sara (Bill) Monroe of Blue River, Kathy (Kurt) Orlikowski of Stevens Point, Danny Conner of Avoca and Valarie Conner of Avoca; a sister, Peggy Roan of Texas; grandchildren, Kayla, Brady, Bailey, Josh, Jerry, Jason, Nikki, Danielle, Julianne, Greg, Aaron and Meghann; great-grandchildren, Chelsey, Hayden, Riley, Jett, Dylan, Taylor, Abram and Sawyer; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Julia was preceded in death by her parents; husband, LaVern; son, Jon; granddaughter, Jessica Anne Conner; and sisters, Josephine Cherry and Eloise Hinta. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Jan. 6, 2006, at 11 a.m. at ST. JOSEPH'S CATHOLIC CHURCH in Avoca with Father Roger Taylor officiating, with burial to follow in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at the GODAGER FUNERAL HOME in Muscoda on Thursday, Jan. 5, 2006, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., with a parish prayer service to be held at 5 p.m., and again at the ST. AVOCA - Lavern E Conner, age 76, was born into eternal life on Tuesday, April 22, 2003. He was born on Feb. 21, 1927, to Stephen J. and Anna (Laufenberg) Conner. He married the former Julia Arguello on July 21, 1953. Lavern farmed for many years in the Highland and Avoca area. He also was employed by the University of Wisconsin until his retirement. He was an avid Green Bay Packers fan, win or lose. He is survived by his wife, Julia; his children, David (Arleen) Conner of Blue River, Karen M. Conner of Madison, MaryAnn (Mike) Lawton of LaFarge, Sara (Bill) Monroe of Blue River, Kathy (Kurt) Orlikowski of Stevens Point, Danny Conner of Avoca, and Valerie Conner of Avoca; brothers, Glen Conner of Mifflin, and Joseph (Dee) Conner of Livingston; his dear grandchildren, whom he loved dearly; many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. LaVern was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Mary Jane Klingerman; brother, Wilbur Sr.; an infant son, Jon; a granddaughter, Jessica Anne Conner; and his "two best friends he ever had," Robert Malter and Rodney Gilbertson Sr. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, April 25, 2003, at 11 a.m. at ST. JOSEPH'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, Avoca, with Father Roger Taylor officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery.
