Obit: John P. McCormick, age 81, of Avoca died Thursday, July 17, 2008. He
was born February 25, 1927 in the Pulaski Township the son of James and Edna
(Stienhart) McCormick. 

He attended the White Beauty grade school and graduated from the Avoca High
School in 1944. On September 1, 1956 he married Mary Jean McCluskey. 

John was a lifetime farmer and livestock dealer for 30 years. He served on
the Pulaski Town Board for 10 years, the chairman for 8 years. He also
served on the Iowa County ASCS committee and a 3 year term on F.H.A. Loan
Committee. He was a rural letter carrier on the Muscoda route 2 for a total
of 28 ½ years. John was also a member of St. Josephs Catholic Church Council
and sang in the church choir. 

John is survived by four children Dan (Vicky) McCormick of Muscoda, Mike
(Barb) McCormick of Blue River, Tom (Madeline) McCormick of Acton, MA, Julie
(Tony) Nondorf of Highland, Brother Jim of Avoca, A loving companion of many
years Betty Kotte of Muscoda, 12 Grandchildren Peggy McCormick, Bill (Lori)
McCormick, Sarah, Jennifer McCormick, Brandon, Trenton and, Kaitlyn
McCormick, Daniella, Brennan McCormick, Mariah Brooke, Nicholas Nondorf, 2
Great Grandchildren Ariana Rutherford, Liam McCormick, Betty's children who
also held a special place in John's heart, Bob, Ken, Mick, Dennis, Randy,
Charley, Mary, sister in law Joanne (Al) Schlatter of Waupaca, Dorothy
McCluskey of Spring Green, other relatives and friends. 

John is preceded in death by his parents and wife Mary Jean McCormick. 

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 11:00 AM on Monday, July 21, 2008 at
St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Avoca with Father Rob Butz officiating.
Burial was held in the church cemetery. Friends called at St. John the
Baptist Catholic Church in Muscoda on Sunday, July 20, 2008 from 4-8pm with
a rosary to be held at 4pm. Friends also called at St. Joseph's Catholic
Church on Monday, July 21, 2008 from 10am until the time of service at 11am.
The family suggested that memorials in John's name be given to Upland Hills
Hospice or Avoca Rural EMS.
