Thurs. 29 Mar 1934 MRS. JAMES McGILL DIES AT FARM HOME TUESDAY Mrs. James McGill; age 62, formerly of Clyde, died Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. at her farm home near Arena following an attack of pneumonia. She is survived by her bereaved husband; two daughters, Miss Delia of Madison and Katherine at home; one son, Amalachi at home, also five sisters and one brother. Her mother Mrs. Rose Connor of Avoca also survives. The remains were brought on Wednesday to the Marty McGill home and funeral services will be held Friday morning from St. Malachy's church with Rev. Fr. Zinthefer officiating. McGILL, James 31 Jan 1877-29 Jun 1951 Son of Martin & Elizabeth (DORSEY) McGILL From the Dodgeville Chronicle, Dodgeville, Iowa Co., WI. 05 Jul 1951 JAMES McGILL VICTIM OF CAR CRASH FRIDAY Elderly Man Is Fatally Injured At North Edge of Dodgeville. James McGill, 74, was fatally injured in a car crash Friday afternoon, shortly before 2 o'clock, and died of a skull fracture a few hours later in St. Joseph's jospital without regaining consciousness. His sister Mrs. Nellie Flynn, 79 of this city who was in the car with him sustained a fractures back, a broken arm and head injuries, but is recovering at the hospital. The accident happened at the intersection of Highway 23-18 and 151 at the north edge of this city. Mr. McGill was born and reared in Clyde community and farmed there most of his life. For the past several years he had been employed as night attendant at the Iowa county hospital. This was his weekend off and he ledt the institution at about one o'clock Friday afternoon. Driving to this city, he called for his sister, Mrs. Nellie Flynn. The two had started out for an enjoyable visit at the home of Mrs. Flynn's son, Thomas and family near Avoca. There is a stop sign and flasher warning at the highway intersection in North Dodgeville but according to reports Mr. McGill did not stop. At the same time a car driven by Jack Womack of Linden was coming from the east. Neither car was driving at high speed but the crash was severe, throwing both Mr. McGill and Mrs. Flynn out onto the pavement. Mr. Womack escaped serious injury. Mr. McGill is survived by two daughters Mrs. Henry Neuman of Madison and Mrs. John Courtney of Danville, Ill; one son, Malcahi of Fenninore; several grandchildren and three brothers, John of Avoca, William of Milwaukee and Martin of Highland. Funeral services were held Monday morning from the Roach funeral home to St. Joseph's church with the Rev. H.W. McGuire officiating. Burial was made in St. Malachy's cemetery in Clyde beside his wife, the former Nellie Conners, who preceded him in death 12 years ago.
