O. Burr Oak; born in Germany on Jan. 13, 1835; he came to the United States in 1850, and lived two years in Geneva, Walworth Co., Wis., where he worked at his trade - that of a miller - for R. W. Warren; he went to La Crosse in the fall of 1854, thence to Black River Falls, where he worked for Mr. A. Shepard, in a mill for three years; thence again to La Crosse Co., where he worked for Mr. J. Vanness, in Union Mills; thence to Melrose, where he worked at his trade for two and a half years; and settled on his present farm in 1865. He married Louisa Young, daughter of Sebastian Young; they have nine children - four sons and five daughters. Mr. Craig learned his trade of his father, in Germany, who was also a miller.
