JULIUS HUBERT Mrs. Bertha Hubert, well known resident of the town of Brockway, died at her home in Pleasant View at 7 o’clock on Christmas eve, December 24, 1945, at the age of 56 years, 11 months and 24 days. She had been in failing health since last December and for the last six months of her life was confined to her bed suffering of a malady for which there was no relief, altho everything that loving hands could do for her comfort was done. She was a patient sufferer, never complaining and always give her friends a cheerful welcome when they called. “Betsy” as she was called will be sadly missed by all. Of a happy disposition, always a willing worker and ready to do more than her share among us at our social gatherings at all times, she was a good neighbor and friend. She was a great lover of flowers, and she and her flowers will be long in our memory. Her sister, Mrs. Edward Lyon, was at her bedside the last two weeks and a different times during her illness as was her son Richard, who returned from overseas in September to be with them and assist his father in her care. Bertha Peterson, daughter of Ole and Karen Peterson, was born in Norway, January 14, 1889, and came to America when a small girl. She was united in marriage to Julius Hubert in this city on November 8th, 1923. Two sons where born to them, Oscar, who preceded her in death three years ago, and Richard, who with her husband, is left to mourn her loss. She also has two sisters: Anna, Mrs. Edward Lyons, of Crystal Lake, Ill., and Carrie, Mrs. Alfred Erickson, of Chisholm, Minn. She leaves three brothers, Ole and Pete Peterson, of this city and Louis Peterson, of Glen Dale, Arizona. They were all with her when she passed away except Louis. Two memorials were given in her memory one for the Skaalen Home for the Aged at Stoughton, and one for WCAL, Radio station at Northfield, Minn. Funeral services were held from the Co-op Funeral Home on Friday afternoon, Dec. 28th, 1945. Rev. Raymond Huss officiated. Mrs. M. H. Moen sang, accompanied by Mrs. Esther Peterson. Pallbearers were Herman Arndt, Paul Cooper, Harry Schoolcraft, Harold Turner, Harvey Simplot and Melvin Johnson. The floral offerings were many and beautiful. She was laid to rest at Riverside Cemetery. Out heartfelt sympathy is extended to her family and other relatives.
