JACOB M. HUBERT Mrs. Jacob Hubert passed away at the Milwaukee General hospital in Milwaukee, on Wednesday, Feb. 2, 1944, at 7:55 p.m. For 14 years a sufferer of heart trouble and high blood pressure she was taken worse in January and removed to the hospital where the end came. Her daughter, Miss Doris, remained with her constantly from Sunday of January 30 until the spirit took its flight. Brief services for her Milwaukee friends were held in that city the night of February 3rd, the Rev. Schultz officiating. The remains were then brought to Black River Falls by her daughter, Miss Doris, her sister-in-law, Mrs. Minnie Kimball, and her brother-in-law, Fred Hubert. Burial services were at the Ness Funeral Home Saturday afternoon, Feb. 5th at 2:00 p.m. Rev. George Bell, of the Methodist church, was in charge. There were songs by Rufus Dimmick, accompanied by Mrs. Jennie White. Interment was in Riverside cemetery by the side of her husband. Pall bearers were Bennie Stratton, Howard Stratton, Carl Stratton, Nett Hostrawser, Fred Hubert and Julius Hubert. Flowers were sent from Chicago and Milwaukee, and from local relatives and friends. Gertrude Mae Stratton was born Feb. 18, 1876, in the town of Irving. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Byron Stratton. Her mother died when she was but six years of age and her father two years later. She lived for some time at the homes of her uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Chester Stratton, the Rev. O. L. Hubbard, and Mr. and Mrs. Loren Drew, all in the Trout Run settlement. She attended high school at Black River Falls and upon receiving her teachers certificate she taught at the Horswill, Cloverdale and O’Brien schools. March 24, 1906, she was united in marriage with Jacob Martin Hubert. There was a double wedding at Mauston, with Nellie Drew and Will Wensel being the other couple. They still live in the Trout Run country. One daughter, Doris Lucille, survives. She has employment in Chicago. She deeply mourns the passing of her good mother. Her father died June 28, 1929, at Waukegan, Ill. His illness was of considerable duration during which Mrs. Hubert was his faithful attendant. Mr. and Mrs. Hubert soon came to Black River Falls and built a nice home for themselves on Price Hill. The residence was sold in 1927, they moving to St. Paul where Mr. Hubert was construction superintendent on the Ford bridge, later moving to Waukegan. Mrs. Hubert was a consistent member of the Trout Run Methodist church, and was a member and past president of the Woman’s Relief Corps o ft his city. She was one of the best of wives and mothers. All who knew her loved and respected her. She devoted her life to the interests of her husband and daughter. She was a friendly and an obliging neighbor and will be sadly missed and mourned by her many friends near whom she lived so many years. The sympathy of all goes out to the daughter who survives, and to other relatives. Those attending the funeral from away, besides the daughter, were: Mrs. Minnie Kimball, Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. Holgia Johnson and son Lyle of LaCrosse; Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Kleven and daughter Kathleen, Onalaska; Mr. and Mrs. Loren Hubert and Mr. and Mrs. Archie Hubert, of La Crosse.
