Tracy Carlson AUGUST GROENING The death of August Groening took place at his home in the village Sunday, Feb. 2, 1913 at 5:30 pm. The deceased was a son of Christian Groening and was born at Watertown, Wis., June 27, 1870. He was twice married, his first wife died a few years ago. On his 42nd birthday he was again married to Henrietta Sell, with whom he has lived happily for only seven months. About two months ago he took sick with LaGrippe which turned into other complicated sickness. The deceased has been a resident of this village for many years where he has made many friends, who will miss his early departure. Funeral services were held at the German Lutheran church of which he was a member, Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, Rev. M.H. Pankow officiating. The funeral was largely attended by many friends. He is survived by his wife, one brother, Fred Groening of Columbus, two sisters, Mrs. Wilhelmina Eichberg and Mrs. Louisa Geise both of Lincoln Nebraska, all of whom were at his bedside when he passed away. Interment was made in the Oak Hill cemetery.
