Surname: JACKSON UNION CORRESPONDENT; Palmyra, Wi., November, 1894 This community was greatly shocked Saturday morning by the tragic ending of the life of John S. Jackson, an old and highly esteemed resident of this place. In attempting to drive across the railroad track he was struck by the Engine of the east bound passenger train and instantly killed. The horse was uninjured. An inquest was held by Coroner J. A. Allen and the verdict exonerated the engineer from all blame. The deceased was 86 years of age and remarkably ambitious and industrious for one so old. The funeral will be held Wednesday. It is just six weeks since we noted the death of his wife.
