Obituary: Jefferson County, Wisconsin: Emma SPENCER ************************************************************************ Submitted by Ruth Ann Montgomery, April 2008 © All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm ************************************************************************ DIED At Fairbury, Neb., on Saturday, Jan.12th, 1889, Mrs. Emma Spencer, wife of Dr. G. F. Spencer, aged about 20 years. Her remains were brought to Evansville, Rock county, Wis., where the funeral services were held on Sunday last and her remains intered in the cemetery at that place. Her mother Mrs. Hughes, of this village was unable to attend the funeral on account of her serious illness. The news of the sudden death of Mrs. Dr. Spencer, nee Emma Hughes, carried with it sadness to many a family, intimate friend, and acquaintance of the deceased. But a few months since she was united in marriage to Dr. G. F. spencer, of Evansville, Wis., and soon after bid adieu to relatives and friends here and took up their abode at Fairbury, Neb. But alas the summons came, she was called to her Eternal Home. This community feel to deeply sympathize with the mother and other relatives and friends in this very sad berevement. Mrs. Spencer was born in Palmyra and lived here the most of her years, and in her childhood, and youth was much respected by all who knew her, and more, beloved by all of her num erous companions who now sadly deplore her sudden departure. At the time of her decease, she was a member of Spring Lake Lodge, No. 176, I. O. G. T. and ever among the most faithful to perform her every duty. God will bless her example for good.
