Bain's machine shops; born in Germany in 1834; came to Wisconsin in 1852, locating at Kenosha, where he worked for E. Bain at wagon-making; in 1870, he took charge of the machine-shop, which position he still holds. Married, in 1854, Miss Anna Weltee, a native of Germany, who died at Kenosha Feb. 16, 1879; they have had ten children, five boys and five girls; one boy and one girl dead. In 1873, was elected Alderman for the Second Ward; was also School Commissioner six years, and member of Hook and Ladder Company thirteen years. Member Catholic Church; Democrat.
