Mrs. Margarite Kelly, wife of T. A. Kelly, died early Monday morning November 19th, at her home in Newport, Lake county, Illinois. Funeral obsequies were held in the Mill Creek Catholic church, on Wednesday, Rev. Father Dunn, assisted by Rev. Father Heller, officiating. Burial was in Mill Creek cemetery. The unusually large procession of friends and neighbors who assembled to pay their last tributes of respect showed the regard and esteem in which she was held by all. Mrs. Kelly, whose maiden name was Marguerite Mary Hoye, was born in Ireland, December 15th, 1838. In early childhood she came to America in company with her parents, who settled in the town of Bristol where most of her life was spent, removing to Newport with her husband and family a few years ago. At the age of twenty-two, she was married in the Brighton Catholic church, to T.C. Kelly of the town of Bristol. Fourteen children were born to them and Mrs. Kelly lived to see them all grown to maturity, and each a credit to their family and a source of gratification to their parents. The bringing up and the caring of so large a family necessitated patience, industry and Christian fortitude but she still found time to give her children a kindly Christian education and in the evening of her life she had the consolation of their love and sympathy. Assembled with their father at her bedside when the final moment came, were ten of her children, to say a last farewell and receive a mother's final blessing. The remaining four who reside on the farm west, were hastening with all possible speed back to the old home. The children, who together with her husband survive to mourn her loss are: Mrs. Carnet of Kenosha, Mrs. Doyle of Waukegan, Edward, of Evanston, John, Frank and Patrick of Denver, Col., Angeline of Colorado Springs, Col.; William J., of San Francisco, George B., Martin F., and Leo D., of Chicago, Annie, Agnes and Mary at home. Mrs. Kelly's health had been failing for some time. All that medical skill and loving hands could do had been done to restore her declining health and strength but the sands of life had finished their course and she sank gently and peacefully into Nature's final sleep. The spirit of resignation and Christian faith in which she said her last farewell imbued with the feeling of "Thy Will be Done" will be a source of consolation to relatives and friends in the years that are to come. She was a consistent Christian. Let us hope that she has gone to her reward. The husband and family have the sympathy of the entire community in their sad bereavement.
