All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/wi/wifiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: JoLynn O'Hare Oten jolynno@aol.com June 10, 2012, 8:04 pm Kenosha Evening News, Wednesday 4 Oct 1905 WED AT NEW MUNSTER Marriage of Miss Mary Rafferty and Benjamin Francis Stahl a Great Social Event KENOSHA PEOPLE ATTEND The social event of the year in the town of Wheatland was the marriage of Miss Mary Rafferty, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Rafferty, of the town of Wheatland, and Benjamin Francis Stahl, the well known Kenosha liveryman, which was celebrated at St. Alphonse’s church in the village of New Munster this morning at 9:30 o’clock. The church was filled with guests when the marriage ceremony was read by the Rev. Father Malone, assistant pastor of St. James’ church in this city. In the high mass which was celebrated in honor of the marriage Father Malone was assisted by the Rev. Joseph Schiefen, pastor of the New Munster church. The bride was given away by her father. She was attended by her sister, Miss Ida Rafferty, who acted as maid of honor, while Frank Sullivan, of this city, was the best man. After the ceremony at the church the members of the bridal party and a large number of guests repaired to the home of the bride, where a wedding breakfast was served. Mr. and Mrs. Stahl left this afternoon for the South to spend their honeymoon, after which they will come to Kenosha to make their home. They will be at home to their friends at their new home at the corner of Exchange street and English Court after the first of December. Both the bride and groom are well known throughout the county. Mr. Stahl is a son of former Sheriff Mathias Stahl and the proprietor of the Palace Livery Stables. Miss Rafferty has been employed as a teacher in the schools of the county for several years. Mr. and Mrs. Stahl will have the best wishes of a large circle of friends. More than fifty people from Kenosha went out to New Munster this morning to attend the wedding ceremony.
