Mrs. Plautz was born in the province of Pommern in Germany in 1827. She had been a resident of this country for over sixty-five years, residing practically all of that time in the town of Montpelier and was well-known. Surviving her are five daughters and one son, namely: Mrs. Sophia Goltz of Milwaukee, Mrs. W. Vanecki [sic - Vanderkin] of Sheboygan, Mrs. Wm Goetsch and Mrs. Ida Fager [sic - Feger] of Montpelier and Henry Plautz of Antigo, and Mrs. Albert Lietz of this city. Her husband, who was a civil war veteran, died about sixteen years ago. The funeral services were held on Wednesday last from the Lutheran Church in the town of Montpelier and were largely attended.
