O. Onalaska; was born in England in 1823. In 1846, he was married to Ellen Flowers, born in England in 1825, and in 1850 they emigrated to the United States, landing at New Orleans, where they stopped one winter. In the following spring, 1851, they came to Wisconsin, and lived six years in Waukesha County, after which they came to La Crosse and engaged in the grocery business, keeping the first grocery store in what is now North La Crosse, for about four years, when he purchased 80 acres of his present farm and lived on the same for about four years. Then he returned to North La Crosse and carried on the grocery business for short time, after which he returned to his farm and has made farming his business, and he now owns 240 acres.
