He was born in 1828, in Shropshire, Eng., parish of Condover, son of William Boycott; came to the United States in 1849; commenced the printing business in Boston, Mass., and remained there till the spring of 1856; then went to Chicago and worked in different job offices till the 1st of the next October, and has been in La Crosse since. He was married in Boston, October, 1857, to Mary Ann Lintott, a native of Lewes, Eng., near London; has two children, Walter J. and William E. He was in the photograph business from the time he came to La Crosse till 1877; was connected with Pomeroy's Democrat till March, 1880, and started his present business the June following.
