Midway; was born in Somerset Co., Me., Nov. 27, 1847; came to Wisconsin in 1868; now owns 240 acres of land, on which he has made good improvements - barn, 32x42, twenty-four-foot corner posts; house, main part 16x24, wing 12x16; also a half interest in 240 acres in another section. His wife, Elizabeth La Fluer, was born in Holland; came to Wisconsin with her parents in 1856. They were married in 1874, and have two children - Emily Newell and Gertrude Mable; has been School Director and Side Supervisor, and is a member of the La Crosse Lodge, No. 45, A., F. & A. M.
