HANS DANCHERTSEN, Postmaster at North La Crosse, and dealer in tobacco, 
cigars, stationery, etc., has held his office since November, 1875. He was 
born in Norway, in 1827; son of Denkert Danchertsen, a merchant of Bergen, 
Norway (where Hans was born); came to America in 1861, and located in La 
Crossse, where he has been engaged in the mercantile business up to the 
present time. He was engaged in farming in Norway for several years previous 
to coming to the United States. He was married, in 1864, to Emily, daughter of 
O. N. Solberg, of Onalaska, and has three children - Denkert Johan, Amelia and 
Hannah.
