JOHN GEBHARDT, engineer at the La Crosse Elevator of the C., M. & St. P. R. R. 
Co., was born in Germany, in 1847. His father, Frank Gebhardt, emigrated to 
America in 1848; settled in Watertown, Wis., and resided there till his death, 
in 1877. Mr. Gebhardt has been railroading and in the employment of the C., M. 
& St. P. R. R. Co. since 1867, and been running an engine since 1871. He was 
married in 1873, at Watertown, Wis., to Julia, daughter of Christian Hubbe, of 
that place, and has four children - John, Etta, Bertha and Ernest.
