F. R. HICKISCH, dealer in groceries, southwest corner of Ninth and Vine 
streets, was born in German Bohemia, in 1847; came to America in July, 1868, 
settled in La Crosse, and worked at the tailor's trade till the spring of 
1880, since which he has been in his present business. He has been leader of 
the Germania Band since the spring of 1876. Was married in La Crosse, in 1869, 
to Theresa Pillat, and has four children - Charles, Annie, Bertha and Willie. 
His father, Frank Hickisch, came to America in November, 1868, and lived in La 
Crosse till his death, in December, 1878, at the age of 57.
