CHARLES HOLMGREN, proprietor of the Pearl Street House, was born in Sweden in 
1847, son of Andrew Holmgren; came to America in 1864; lived in Illinois till 
1866, and since that has resided in La Crosse and been engaged in saloon-
keeping most of the time. He was married in La Crosse in 1871 to Mary 
Thompson, and has five children - Alfred, Charles Otto, Willie, Milburn E. and 
Knudt. Has hotel accommodations for fifty guests.
