WILLIAM E. HOWE, attorney and counselor at law, was born in Clayton Co., Iowa, 
Jan. 17, 1851; son of H. E. Howe of Wendell, Mass. In 1869, he came to 
Wisconsin, and entered the State University at Madison, his parents removing 
to that place in 1870. He was a member of the graduating class of 1873, 
graduated with first honors of the class, and was also a graduate of the law 
department class of 1874. He was with J. H. Carpenter, of Madison, from June, 
1873, till the spring of 1874, then went to St. Louis, Mo., where he practiced 
till August, 1876, when he came to La Crosse, where he has since practiced his 
profession.
