MARVIN MATHEWS, superintendent of the mill and lumber-yard of R. M. Moore; he 
has been in Mr. Moore's employ since 1870. He was born in the State of Maine 
in 1841; son of John Mathews, who died in Maine in 1859. His mother died in 
1854. In 1861, he went to California, and was engaged in mining there till 
1870, and came from there to La Crosse. He was married, in October, 1878, to 
Miss Mattie Waller, who was born at Great Bend, Penn., daughter of Nathan P. 
Waller, who came to La Crosse in 1858. Mr. and Mrs. Mathews have one child - 
Robert M.
