McDONALD, steamboat and groceryman, was born in Picton, Nova Scotia, Jan. 1, 1833. In June, 1844, he removed with his parents to Dundas, Canada West. Here he attended the common schools until 1853, when he moved to Hamilton, remaining there until 1855, when he came to La Crosse and entered the lumbering business, which he still follows.
