Served an apprenticeship at the tinner's trade in Lowell, Mass., with W. T. and C. P. Whitton; was there four years, then in Chelsea, Vt., one year; he went from there to Claremont, N. H., and was in business there till 1864, then came West, settled in Rushford, Minn., where he remained till 1870. In November of that year, he came to La Crosse and worked as a journeyman till 1876, since which time he has been in business for himself on Main street, between Fourth and Fifth, where he keeps on hand a general assortment of stoves, tin, sheet- iron and copper ware.
