His father, M. L. Tourtellotte, was among the earliest settlers of La Crosse Co., and assisted in laying out and platting the village of West Salem, where he and his family now reside. The subject of this sketch was educated at the State University at Madison, Wis., and is a graduate of the Law Department, Class of 1875; he was admitted to the bar in June, 1875, at Madison, Wis., and then moved to La Crosse, and continued his studies in the office of B. F. Bryant until the spring of 1876, and in the office of Lyndes & Burroughs until Aug. 1, 1876, when the present partnership was formed. Mr. Tourtellotte was married in August, 1878, to Miss Lillie C. Woodbury, daughter of Capt. W. W. Woodbury, of Somerville.
