TOURTELLOTTE, farmer, Sec. 34; West Salem; born in Thompson, Windom Co., Conn., in 1823. When a young man he learned the trade of a millwright. He went to Holyoke, Mass., in 1850, where he was engaged in work at his trade. He came to La Crosse Co. in 1854, and purchased the farm where he now resides, the following year, of Mr. Daniel Bird. Mr. Tourtelotte is a successful farmer and an extensive land owner; has about 1,200 acres of land. His wife was Miss Louisa C. Mills, also a native of Windom County. They have four children, three sons and one daughter - Mills, an attorney of La Crosse; M. L. C.; John F., a student of the State University at Madison, and Lincoln H.
