PETER TOXEN, proprietor of the Christiania House on Front street; is a native 
of Norway, born Nov. 25, 1843. His father, Peter Toxen, Sr., came to America 
in 1867, and now lives in Jackson Co., Wis.; Peter, Jr., came one year 
previous to his father; lived in Black River Falls three years; then worked 
one year in Eau Claire, and lived in Neilsville, Wis., from 1870 to 1880, when 
he came to La Crosse, and has been keeping hotel since that. He was married in 
Neilsville in 1873, to Ingabor Johnson, and has three children - Herman, 
Amanda Eliza and Ingamer.
