I, 8th W. V. I., 1864; discharged, 1865; engaged in business at new Amsterdam; then to Midway, August, 1880; has a fine stock of goods, and doing a fine business. He was appointed Postmaster in 1880. His wife was Sarah Gillette, who was born in Wisconsin in 1860. They were married in 1875, and have three children - William, born, 1876; Albertus, 1878; Walter, 1880. In politics, Republican; in religion, Lutheran. A member of the A., F. & A. M. Lodge, and I. O. O. F. Mr. Van Loon attended school at Janesville, Wis., in 1875 at the Commercial College.
